ALL THE INFO

Who am I?

I am an Advertising student at Appalachian State University with a love for food! I hope to one day work for a non-profit and spread their message to spread goodness. Right now I manage the social media for Marilyn's Sweet Addictions in my hometown of Lincolnton, NC which lets me combine my two loves! I hope this blog gives you insight into gems that I have found at college and in my travels. Buckle up, and get ready to eat!

Dumpling Girls

The Shrimp and Pork Dumplings with an Egg Roll and Cucumber Salad

On Saturday my mom, grandma, and I had a girls day! Starting with a Christmas craft fair, I was not super excited UNTIL we walked outside and saw The Dumpling Girls food truck... and I was sold. The super cute blue truck (blame the cold for not taking a picture of it) had super cute animated twins as a logo and a very limited menu. They told me that they typically stay in downtown Charlotte so my hometown, Lincolnton, had been about an hour drive.

The top image was the combo style meal they were doing and NONE of it disappointed! The dumplings were steaming hot and crispy and they gave us two little containers of sauce which, I'll be honest, I expected just to be soy and a sweet chili sauce BUT it was actually Ponzu and HOMEMADE special dipping sauce! The egg roll was absolutely the best I've ever had.

Personal confession: I am a sucker for literally any side salad. Like not the lettuce kind. SO when I saw the cucumber salad on the menu I was hype! And it was AMAZING.

Spicy Szechwan Chicken Dumplings

The other dish we ordered, because who can pick just one, was the Spicy Szechwan Chicken Dumplings. Now personally when I order food that is labelled spicy, I expect it to be like HOT, five alarm spicy and this wasn't. That would be my only critique over the whole thing was that these were not at all spicy! They were, insanely fresh, flavorful, and "authentic" tasting.

Overall, you should ABSOLUTELY make the drive to Charlotte to find these talented ladies.
