Who am I?

I am an Advertising student at Appalachian State University with a love for food! I hope to one day work for a non-profit and spread their message to spread goodness. Right now I manage the social media for Marilyn's Sweet Addictions in my hometown of Lincolnton, NC which lets me combine my two loves! I hope this blog gives you insight into gems that I have found at college and in my travels. Buckle up, and get ready to eat!

WOW! This weeks first speaker was amazing, especially because he is going to be one of my professors next semester! I feel so lucky to have gotten to see his teaching style, comfortable conversation, before starting the class. While Dr. Gates was with us he talked a lot about the history of social media and the legality behind it. This included several court cases and information for us about privacy in this newer digital age. Something new that I learned about was Gab. This is the new Reddit, full of very right wing, dangerous views. To close the discussion he touched on sexting and the age of consent which is considerably more tricky than I thought it would be. Overall this guest speaker coming to see us prepared me for next semester and opened my eyes to the legality and issues behind social media that have happened and are yet to come.
