Tuesday night we braved the 'hurricane weather' (sarcasm seriously intended) to go to our freshman year favorite, Sabeing Thai on King Street. After collecting my friends from the dorm last year we headed over for a veritable feast. Sushi, phad thai, and fried rice dishes rolled out all night! Sabeing offers a unique way to order, that bases price on your protein choice. So for our vegetarian friends they have amazing tofu, which is my favorite in their spicy basil fried rice. The real key to this teeny tiny gem, is the spice rack! Maybe its the lack of ethnic food options in my hometown, but before my introduction to this amazing element, Thai food tasted like any other Asian food. I am here to tell you, add the chili garlic! Take it slow, two scoops is enough to get me sniffling, but without it you miss out on amazing depth of flavor that the roasted garlic provides. The student budget is definitely respected here; the massive plate of drunken noodles with grilled chicken was $8.50 and there was plenty for two big meals. Especially now that Cookout has raised its prices, I can see myself eating a lot of Thai food as the meal plan balance declines this winter.
